The Gourmet Showroom is dedicated to delicatessen products and is held every year at IFEMA. It is for professionals only. It is one of the best regarded exhibitions in the quality food and drink sector in Europe. It is a luxury showcase for manufacturers and producers looking for purchasing or import managers, product leads and executives.
The Gourmet Showroom hosts taste sessions, show cooking and conferences for restaurant, hotel, catering and specialised trade professionals. The Hosted Buyers Program (HBP) guarantees the quality of the networking, with a series of international buyers willing to do business.
Across the 4 days of the Gourmet Showroom, there are several competitions and contests, such as pint pulling, ham cutting, opening oysters, gourmet tapas or the best cheeses in Spain. In addition, at the national representative for the World Sommelier Championship of the ASI is selected at the Land of Flavour Spanish Sommelier Championship.
The Gourmet Showroom awards are handed out on the last day of the exhibition. There are 3 categories: Innovation, for products that represent an advance for the sector and consumers, Presentation, considering the aesthetics of the container as well as how well nutritional information is displayed, and Versatility, for unique products that have multiple applications.
