Alimentaria is held every two years in the Gran Vía venue of Fira de Barcelona. Since the first edition in 1976, it has grown in the number of exhibitors and visitors until becoming one of the most important food exhibitions in the world. It is a commercial platform that gathers leading companies from around one hundred countries, creating an environment of international business for all professionals who work in this industry.
There are over 4500 exhibiting companies. All players in the value chain are represented: manufacturers, distributors, importers, retailers and supermarkets, restaurants, catering firms, hotels, etc. Roles include general and commercial directors, but also chefs, R&D managers and sommeliers.
The exhibition is divided into 10 sectors that help visitors find what they are interested in more easily. Thus, in addition to rooms with international guests, autonomous and Mediterranean diet products are grouped into meat products, dairy products, preserves, sweets and snacks. There is also space for food outside the home and trends such as fortified food, “free from” or organic products.
Alimentaria Barcelona is an excellent platform to launch new products and our aim is to make each stand the perfect vehicle to showcase them. International commercial contacts are made, allowing exhibitors to reinforce their presence in external markets and generate new business.
To encourage deal-making, Alimentaria Barcelona provides the Matchmaking tools to exhibitors. It is a tool for contacting and requesting meetings with national and international buyers invited by the organisation. Attendees can select profiles most in line with their area in advance and make the most of their time at the exhibition.
Activities at this food fair are organised around innovation and the latest trends in the production and consumption of food and drinks. At The Experience Live Gastronomy attendees can watch live demonstrations or showcookings to complement other presentations. The Alimentaria Hub offers workshops, conferences and study presentations, as well as an advice service for product exports.
