The Mobile World Congress has been held at Fira de Barcelona since 2006, in recent years in the Gran Vía premises. It is the most important event in the sector, and brands from all over the world bring their latest developments. This is why the Mobile World Congress (MWC) Barcelona has generated a lot of media excitement and thousands of reporters are ready to cover every minute of the congress in their different mediums.
Even though mobile phone manufacturers take centre stage because they present new models and developments for the future, every year a theme is chosen that guides parallel activities. Connectivity, big data, augmented and virtual reality, robotics, finance, entertainment, smart cities, and so on. The mobile industry is part of everyday life and at this event people who are convinced of its importance can learn about new applications.
All segments of the mobile market are represented, from hardware to software, which makes MWC Barcelona an opportunity to discover ideas in a changing sector. Talks, seminars, product presentations and activities are organised to allow people to stay up to date with all areas of mobile technology. Over 2200 exhibitors and visitors from 200 countries guarantee a good level of exchange of opinions and different perspectives that contribute to revolutionising this industry.
Over the four days it lasts, the Catalan capital hosts around 100,000 attendees visiting MWC Barcelona. Fira Barcelona is proud of attracting those who make decisions, where CEOs and other people in senior positions make up almost 60% of visitors. This is a reason to attend, as it increases the possible number of deals that can be reached at the stands and many opportunities for networking in specially reserved spaces, such as the garden area.
In addition, MWC Barcelona hosts the Global Mobile Awards (GLOMOs), which recognise the contributions that aid the evolution of the mobile industry. The categories include the best device, app for the 4th industrial revolution, best use of mobile technology and government leadership.
